A young person you know is struggling. Do you know the first step to help? This training will teach you everything you need to know to #BeTheDifference and possibly save the life of someone you love. Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is a skillsbased training that teaches parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors and health and human services workers and any other adult how to identify, understand and respond to the signs and symptoms of our youth who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. Similar to physical First Aid and CPR, MHFA helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis until professional assistance is obtained or the crisis is resolved. This course will teach you to: • recognize warning signs of a mental health or substance use challenge • provide help in crisis and non-crisis situations and • understand where to turn for additional assistance through a 5-step Action Plan • increase your confidence and likelihood to help an individual in distress • improve your own self-care and mental well-being This skills-based training is delivered over a 7-hour course, broken up into 2 consecutive days. Your investment is just $55, which includes the official Youth Manual. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate as a certified Youth Mental Health First Aider
